Discover Beaune & the Beaune region
Beaune has a very attractive city centre, located 15 minute’s walk from our hotel. Take the time to stroll through this ancient medieval city, classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site, discover the cobbled streets, the belfry, the Notre-Dame Basilica, the ramparts… and treat yourself to a shopping spree in this very commercial and welcoming city. Every Saturday morning don’t forget the market with our local producers. In the surrounding area, discover the picturesque villages, meet the winegrowers who will open their cellars to you, or plan a trip to Meursault to discover the filming locations of the movie La Grande Vadrouille.
Admire the Hospices de Beaune
From our hotel, it will only take you twenty minutes to walk to the Hôtel-Dieu Hospices de Beaune, one of the most prestigious French historical monuments, recognisable by its flamboyant gothic style, its famous glazed roofs, its magnificent main courtyard… Discover this exceptional site, its history, its architecture, its vineyard… and its famous “Salle des Pôvres” which was used as the backdrop for one of the mythical scenes in the film La Grande Vadrouille.
Take part in the Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction
Every year, on the third Sunday in November, the Hôtel-Dieu hosts the Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction, the most famous charity wine auction in the world. A weekend of festivities and tastings in the purest Burgundian tradition, bringing together professionals, connoisseurs, amateurs and many celebrities.
Stroll around Dijon, capital of the dukes
Dijon, the “Capital of the Dukes of Burgundy”, is only a 30-minute drive from our hotel. Discover the splendid historic heart of the city, the Dukes’ Palace, the Fine Arts Museum, climb the 316 steps of the Philippe Le Bon Tower or stroll around Lake Kir, which has been transformed into a seaside resort… and as tradition dictates, caress the owl statuette, the city’s emblem, and make a wish!
Go for a walk or a bike ride
The Beaune region is a paradise for hikers and cyclists. Set off on foot or by bike on the Voie des Vignes, the Chemin des Grands Crus, along the Burgundy canal… Themed tours allow you to learn all about the region’s historical or winegrowing heritage and offer magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.

“In Burgundy, when you talk about a Climat, you don’t raise your eyes to the sky, you lower them to the earth”, as Bernard Pivot once explained. Because in Burgundy, the “Climat” does not refer to the weather, but to a wine-growing terroir combining plot, grape variety and know-how. The Climats of Burgundy, delimited on the slopes of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, have been listed as Unesco World Heritage Sites since 2015.
Taste the gastronomy of Burgundy
Take advantage of your stay in our hotel to discover Burgundy’s gastronomy. Truffles, cheeses, blackcurrants, gingerbread, marbled ham, Flavigny aniseed, gingerbread, snails… and of course mustard, are the stars of the regional culinary art.
To taste these marvellous local products, go to the shops in Beaune or to the multitude of restaurants in the Pays Beaune, which has no less than 7 starred restaurants and a multitude of other fine restaurants.
Visit the Fallot mustard factory
Dijon mustard is world famous. If you are a fan, discover this legendary condiment by visiting the Fallot Mustard Factory in Beaune, the first French museum space dedicated to mustard. A fun and interactive tour takes you through the centuries to learn about the production, gestures and traditions associated with mustard.
Travel the Route des Grands Crus
Our hotel is located in the heart of the Route des Grands Crus, a 60 km long tourist route that crosses 38 wine villages of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, between Dijon and Santenay, the most prestigious part of the Burgundy vineyards. Follow this route and discover the names of villages that make wine lovers dream: Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Aloxe-Corton, Pommard, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet…
Discover the new wine city in Beaune
To find out all about the vineyards, the landscapes, the terroirs, the Climats, the work of the vine, the art of winemaking, the subtleties of the wines, the conviviality, the culture, the traditions… Go to the Cité des Vins et des Climats de Bourgogne in Beaune, which will be built in 2022. Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wines, is the heart of this unique concept which also includes two other reference sites, Chablis and Mâcon, and will allow each visitor to discover all the wealth and diversity of Burgundy wines.
In Beaune, the Cité des Vins will be installed in the south of the city in a 3500 m2 building evoking a vine tendril, in the heart of a 10-hectare wooded park. A cultural project dedicated to Burgundy, its wines and its Climats, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cité des Vins et des Climats will offer all visitors, whether initiated, amateurs or neophytes, educational, fun and attractive experiences: immersive and sensory tours, tastings, training courses, workshops, exhibitions, etc., as well as a varied cultural programme based on the theme of the terroir, wines and Climats of Burgundy
